JRC - still the team to beat
TM - always a bridesmaid
SENS/TT - will be a good race
DMF - their D prevents them from being 3/4. Their F's and goaltending prevent them from slipping lower than fifth
NATS - same old hard working team
VK - dysfunctional bench with babysitters added
TRW - sneak into eighth
Rebels - beat MM to the sh*tter
MM - wil be close to both Rebels and TRW
Reps - will not REPresent
NYR - always know where to find them

JRC still ahead but small forwards might start to hurt them.
TM moving closer. Need to tighten on back end .
TT re-worked group might surprise.
Sens slightly better but still need scoring.
Didn't DMF finish 3Rd or 4th last year with weaker defense and goaltending? They and Sens fighting out for 3rd but offense and new goaltending give DMF slight edge.
Rest are still too far behind and will either not make the playoffs or are out in first round.

JRC replaced weakest players with better players who also add size. They could go undefeated, by far the best team. The gap didn't narrow, just the opposite.

TM slightly improved, but no threat to Jrc. Lost last 4 games of finals and it wasn't close. Solid 2nd place team with no weaknesses, but Jrc owns them.

TT lots of changes lands them in 5th place this season. Could end up being strong in the playoffs as new players establish chemistry with the returning players.

Sens slightly better but still need scoring. Goaltender and defense give them a chance to win, regardless who the opponent is. Will battle for 3rd, but likely end up 4th.

DMF finished 3rd last year with weaker defense and goaltending. DMF and Sens fighting it out for 3rd but strong offense and improved goaltending give DMF the edge to remain in 3rd. If the top 2 forwards continue to produce at the levels they have and the goalie doesn't disappoint, they remain in 3rd. If the top 2 forwards or goalie disappoint, all bets are off because then they end up in 5th.

Correct. DMF now closer to TM than TM is to JRC.

Lol - someone is smoking the cheap stuff!! Dmf will distance themselves from the pack. Better on fwd, better on D and better in net. Still a good distance from 1 & 2 tho.

Tt lost a lot but also gained a lot. Expect them to be about the same.

Size will slowly become an issue for the SENS this year as D get outmuscled on the puck and leave more work for their goaltending

That ruounds out your top 5. 3-5 could be in any order. At 6-8 you have vk, mm and rebs.

My dark horse is trw. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them sneak into a playoff spot and potentially to 6th.

False. DMF have taken a step back. With the changes they made DMF struggle for 5th place. Goaltending is maybe as good as last year but definitely not improved. DMF lost too much of its core and will struggle.

JRC - Let's be honest. They brought in one relevant player on the back end. Their depth is actually worse up front. They are still Numero Uno but peple talking about an undefeated season should share their drug dealer information with the rest of us.

TM - They are slightly improved. They also brought in one relevant player but lost a good player to make room. They will remain comfortably in second but one or both of SENS/TT will narrow the gap.

TT - It's almost like they threw away a strong hand and then reshuffled the deck. They've lost some good players but gained some good players. If chemistry works then TT may be stronger but this team will need a couple months to find its way.

SENS - They've also lost some good players but gained some good players too. Team will have more grit and will be stronger on the back end. If they can generate more offense then third place is theirs.

DMF - The most talked about team is still good enough to capture fifth place. One goalie spot is improved but they lost a good goalie too so the tandem may be weaker. The D may actually be worse but time will tell. This team also has the worse depth among the five listed here which will be their downfall. Three players should be playing AA. Forwards are strong as a group and have some bite.

Time will tell if DMF goaltending improved but i don't think so. Probably downgraded on d but still good enough for a top 6 finish

Next few years will be interesting for goalies, can't imagine either JRC goalies can develop with a few shots per game, and if sens goalie is being protected, cracks will begin to show. It may seem logical that the lower ranked teams would develop better goalies?

Now some genius goalie dad will say goalies on top teams face the toughest shots at practice.
We all know that’s a load of crap.

I guess goalies face the toughest shots in practice playing on a weak team? That doesn't make sense.

What would make sense is that goalies on top teams face tougher shots in practice and that goalies on weak teams face tougher shots in games than goalies on top teams do.

Playing on a top team doesn't guarantee that you will end up being better than a goalie on a weak team. The same is true for a goalie on a weak team, it guarantees nothing in the future. Lots of goalies on weak teams get discarded.

You must be the dad of a goalie on a top team. Practice is practice. If a goalie on a weak team plays a top team but loses 3 or 4 or even 5 to 1 , but the shots are 30 for the weak team and 6 against for the top teAm what are you even thinking??? I have seen some goalies at this age just stand for a whole game while the puck is in the other teams end?!? So what he loses 5 0 or 4 1, he is getting worked . Eventually that will help him ,instead of standing around waving at mom and dad with the big trophy at the end of the day..... It's common sense people.

Same applies for defencemen. If you spend all your time in the offensive zone development is limited. Lots of 3 on 2s or 2 on 1s are good for defencemen. Save the trophies for later.

Get real, unless the gm has no clue they're much stronger in net. Replaced both goalies with upgrades, otherwise it makes no sense to make the changes.

D has made a lateral move at worst, but probably will be improved.

It's time to give dmf some credit, instead of bashing every move they make. They have a highly paid GM who's forgotten more then his critics will ever know. There's a reason he commands the salary he receives.

From what i read people have them 5th or 6th, that's hardly bashing. Its actually a compliment because they easily could finish lower. As for the gm "moves" they don't always work out. Some changes aren't always good.
