It is funny that SHD guy put a team into a very weak tourney so they could pound their chests and destroy b rep teams lol...

It's not a terrible tournament, just a wide range of talent.

Very few top kids in there. An 05 team is one of the best that's how awful this tournament is.

It is widely accepted in the Ottawa Area that the Cassellmen Tournament is a Tier 2/3 tournie at best. That is why you do not see teams like the Bytown Bruins, Rushfort, etc... . Why the coach of Ottawa Pirates entered this tournie with a Tier 1 team is any ones guess. For them to play then beat up on a lower Tier 3 tells us all a lot . The final score was a 20-1 ,a coach with the best interest of his own players and the opposing players should have stopped play at the beginning of the 3rd and respectively withdrew his team from the game .Go 3-1 in the round robin and go a bit harder on the tier 2 teams in the Playoffs. All who was there knew it was his tournie to win anyways. He gained nothing but furthering his bad rep in the Ottawa region and his players could have used a good life lesson but he chose the low road for himself and his players. The Hockey gods have a good memory.

Hey isn't this a AAA tournament?!? All the teams are listed as AAA. Who said anything about tier 2 or 3? It's AAA? It doesn't say elite, ultimate or mega. Just AAA. How is my one to know what level the tournament is? They all lost themselves as top level. Haven't seen one say enter our tournament, we have the best tier 3 AAA teams from the province!

There is no differentiation at all. I guess a lot
Of guessing, then complaining if a team is to strong. Hey running up the score that high is a joke, but if I was a parent on that team I would also be pissed that we entered such a weak tournament. Spent money, changed my schedule around for what, lopsided wins?? The organizers are to blame, they accepted the team.

We know that many of these teams are all star teams and many are just a group of friends from
Different levels. But they get the parents
by calling it AAA.

To much complaining in spring hockey for me.

It's kinda funny that in unsanctioned spring they want tiers but in winter hockey T3 and 2 kids can assumingly play with T1 kids.
Ottawa pirates were top end kids vs low end T1 and lower level kids

Welcome to spring ! It won't get any easier

6:24 and 7:16 are right: running up a score to 20 - 1 says a lot about the Coach and none of what it says is good. 7:16 is also right that the tournament organizer should have either said no to the Team or put it into the Major PeeWee division. 7:16 is off the mark though if he thinks the parents are pissed about entering such a weak tourney. Their kids have been in this tournament before and it's always been a weaker field. They knew they would crush the other teams.

I'm 7:16, I would really have to question anyone's integrity, coach, organizer or parent if they are ok with running up scores that high. Even half that number is ridiculous. Why would anyone want to spend their money and time on that? Does entering a known weak tournament and crushing the field make anyone feel better about themselves? If so you have issues. There is no fun in that, no development, no value for your money, and a list of negatives. Doesn't make sense to me.

The world of spring hockey, ahem, AAA, is ridiculous. Call it all AAA, which is funny to start with, and then expect teams and organizers to guess at what level the teams really are at!! Many look forward to spring because they can do what they want, play with whomever they want, seek out whatever coach they want, play as often as they want, NO RULES! Then the tournaments are a crap shoot with lots of lopsided wins. Who's fault is it if a team destroys all others, or gets destroyed? Many times the rosters change from tournament to tournament. Some teams here have recruited from Montreal and northern NY. Just to stack their team. Then you hear the complaining.

Easy big boys easy......
Ranting and raving about this and that about how it was the organizers fault is pointless. Do not play stupid .We all know that MAR is all about the money so he will never say no to more $$$. Your rant about AAA is useless and pointless and you know it. Spring has Tiers and has had for the last 8 years or so. Are we going to see the Ottawa Pirates in the valley elite Smith Falls Tier 2/3 tournie???..Not . Ottawa Pirates entering this weekends tournie was questionable but defending a 20-1 beat down on a lower tier 3 team by claiming ignorance of the other teams skill level is insulting to the game . Any coach worthy of having such a high level team should have been able to easily recognize the disparity and adjust accordingly . But that is not what happened, is it?? ..... If there is no Tiering in AAA explain why the actual Tier 1 Ottawa teams need to run to Toronto to find actual skill level appropriate competition. Get over yourself.... your Coach screwed up and you went along with it . Trying to defend it just helps to dig the hole deeper. And btw posting one entry on a minor hockey forum is not complaining it called discussing and second entry is called a rebuttable.
