The part that everyone always forgets when they are kissing the rear of the head coach is that you assemble A coaching staff whhich is essentially a TEAM in itself . Sometimes the better man is pushed aside for the head coaches ego and not the better of the team .

Guess that happens when you remove the best Coach off the bench. HV is a club of buddies and pals not one dedicated to winning and success. They have a core or group there ruining the club. Sad but true.

Take it easy dad. You're the sick one. Lol

Haha. Is it possible that the 2011 dads are crazier than the 2010's. God I hope not!!

Ya, these idiots from ddg are confusing the threads. This is tier 1 09. They just see the word GP and think I need to bash them without realizing there's a tier 1 09 team there. Go back to your 09 tier 2 thread or 2010 one and stop trying to put you nose in where it doesn't belong. As annoying as that parent group is at least they are good entertainment, our very own circus monkeys.
Say what you want... DDG finished hire then you DDB. So haha the joke is on you. They finished with 10 points in the top 3 tied while you finish with 4 points in the bottom. So honestly say what you want. We all know this is a DDB parent LOL. That explains why your star player is leaving and wants nothing associated with you guys. It doesn't take a scientist to figure that one out.
This guy kills me how dumb he is, he's told he's on the wrong thread and his comeback is, look at the 10 points we got. Go back to tier 2 dumbass. Ddb looked strong in tier 1. Ddw not so much in tier2.

Buddy, 2009 tier 1. DDB finished first in their group and DDR was second last. Oh and GP was undefeated.

Pick the coach

You could stop reading right now and this would cover almost all of it. The coach will singlehandedly determine the entire experience for you and your kid. The jersey doesn’t matter. The wins don't matter. Pick the coach who is going to make your kid a better hockey player. Do you want a coach who has [insert name of awesome player] on his team, or a coach who is going to turn your hungry hockey-loving kid into [insert name of awesome player]? The Coach should need you as much as you need him.

Winning vs Losing

Never pick coaches who try to win at all costs. The best coaches will win anyways. This is for 3 reasons: 1) Top AAA teams lock the best coaches up quickly 2) Top kids should go to the top coaches and 3) Top coaches will improve the entire team at a greater rate than other coaches. If you had a good kid, who would you want coaching him Paul Coffey or ? Great coaches will win a lot, but teams that win a lot don’t always have great coaches. Do you want a great coach or a great recruiter?

Skills

Especially in the early years of AAA, skills improvement is huge. Pick the coach who is committed to making every single kid a better skater, puck handler, etc. I’ve seen coaches who run team drills 2 to 3 times a week. Kids are literally standing around doing nothing for 1/3 of every practice.

Loyalty to your kid only

For the kids going into pre-Novice (or N in the G), it’s always wonderful staying with the coach who gives your kid a lot of ice or who is really nice to you, but if your coach needs you more than you need him & there is a better option on another team, your kid is the loser. You owe it to your kid to put him in the best situation for him.
